Recommended Activities
Chamonix is bursting with activities to enjoy, whether you want to get active, be amazed, or simply recharge.
On this page, we share our favorite experiences beyond hiking and skiing.
*********************************************
Please remember if you are planning to hike that it is strictly forbidden to swim in any of the mountain lakes. We know it looks good on social media but it destroys our eco-systems even if you don't wear sunscreen (honestly we hope you are wearing some) or makeup. Cold mountain lakes have very long retention times and the pollutant do not breakdown, instead they kill everything. So please please please, do not do it.

Step into the Void at the Aiguille du Midi
Take the Aiguille du Midi cable car up to 3,800 meters in altitude (included with the Unlimited Pass in winter, or available as an add-on—tickets are available at the base of the cable car). The view is breathtaking!
How to get there: Take bus 10 from the stop Savoy in direction of Chamonix Sud, or bus 1 (or V2) at the Vallot or Mummery stops in direction of Le Prarion or Parking du Grépon. Get off at Chamonix Gare Routière. The gondola is a five minute walk from there.
Short Hikes to small Mountain Hut Restaurants called BUVETTES (summer only)
The town of Chamonix owns and leases out a small network of little mountain huts run by locals which typically offer fresh homemade food, incredible views in garden like settings, and friendly smiles.
All of these huts are typically 1 to 1.5 hour medium difficulty hikes and well worth the effort. If you want to see what we mean, check Instagram as all of these huts have accounts and share many pictures and updates on that platform. We particularly recommend:
- La Buvette de la Floria, the hike starts right behind the hotel! A little steep but one of the most convenient. Simply go up the street towards the roundabout, take a right and then turn left after 200 meters where the road forks. The trailhead is a long dirt road that goes straight uphill (we promise this is the steepest part of the hike and it flattens out right after).
- La Buvette du Chapeau. Take bus V2 towards Le Tour from the Vallot or Mummery bus stops and get off at Les Tines or Le Lavancher if you want to avoid some of the uphill. The trailhead in Les Tines is right behind the adventure park and you'll first need to follow signs to Le Lavancher if you don't see one marked for Le Chapeau. If you get off in Le Lavancher, you'll need to walk up in the forest towards Le Lavancher village to find the trailhead sign. Along the path you'll see waterfalls and flowery meadows as you zig zag on a partly shaded forest trail.
- La Buvette des Mottets
- La Buvette de la Cascade de Bérard. This one is in Vallorcine, so you'll need take the train towards Martiny from the Chamonix Train Station and get off at Le Buet. If you speak French, you'll also know that "cascade" stands for waterfall, so expect a refreshing splash on a hot summer day. Remember the train is free with your "carte d'hôte" we make for you at Reception. This hike goes up in a gorge and has a beautiful waterfall as well. The train ride is a bit long but it's incredibly scenic so sit back and enjoy the views!
- La Buvette du Plan de l'Aiguille (on your way up or down from the Aiguille du Midi - choose to return to town either hiking to Le Montenvers on Grand Balcon Nord or take the Gondola directly).

It’s about a 20-minute walk or take Bus 10 in front of the hotel and transfer at Place du Mont-Blanc to the bus heading toward Les Planards. River Rafting (summer)
An ideal activity, rain or shine. Supervised by Mont-Blanc Rafting and only a 5-minute walk from the hotel! Choose from the activities on offer and book online if you want to be sure to get a timeslot.
